New Phone Scam from "U.S. Immigration"

Watch out if you get a call from "the immigration" asking for personal information!

According to the DHS's Office of Inspector General (OIG), there is a new scam using  the DHS OIG hotline telephone number. Scammers would identify themselves as “U.S. Immigration” employees and make their caller ID to show the DHS OIG hotline number of 1-800-323-8603. They would then demand that the individual provide personal information, usually by telling folks that they are victims of identity theft. DHS reminds the public that USCIS officials will never ask for payment over the phone or in an email. To report a phone scam, report to Federal Trade Commission at http://1.usa.gov/1suOHSS.   You can also call the USCIS National Customer Service Center at 800-375-5283 to verify a call.
