September 2013 Visa Bulletin: Eb-2 India advances to 06/15/2008

In the recently released September 2013 Visa Bulletin by the U.S. Department of State (DOS), the headline news is the rapid advancement of the cutoff dates in the employment-based preference categories. Eb-2 India advances by more than five (5) months to 06/15/2008 while Eb-2 China remains unchanged. Eb-3 India moves forward significantly by nine (9) months to 09/22/2003; Eb-3 Philippines advances by five (5) weeks to 12/1/2006;  Eb-3, China, Mexico and Other Countries all move forward to 07/01/2010 - a eighteen (18) months jump.

The cutoff dates in family-based immigration visa categories advance slowly in September. The good news is that the F2A visa category (spouses and children of lawful permanent residents) remains current in September, although the State Department states that a cutoff date is expected next month for this category.  Eligible applicants should file their applications in September before visa numbers become retrogressed again.
