February 2021 Visa Bulletin: EB-1 Advancement Continues

 · EB-1 China and EB-1 India Final Action dates will advance by four months to January 1, 2020. · EB-2 China will advance by two weeks to June 15, 2016; EB-2 India will advance by four days to October 12, 2009. · EB-3 China will advance by two weeks to January 1, 2018;  EB-3 India will advance by more than one week to April 1, 2010. · EB-5 China will remain at August 15, 2015;  EB-5 Vietnam will advance by two weeks to October 1, 2017.

Biden Proposes US Citizenship Act of 2021

President Biden has promptly proposed a sizeable bill that would overhaul current immigration policy.

USCIS Offices Closure Due to the Snow Storm

USCIS announced that all of their offices in New Jersey, New York City and Philadelphia will be closed on Monday, 2/1/2021, including:

TPS for Syrian Nationals Extended until September 2022

DHS today announced an 18-month extension and re-designation of Syria’s Temporary Protected Status (TPS) designation through September 2022.  Further extension is possible.  DHS estimates 6,700 individuals are eligible for eligible for extension.  Another 1,800 additional individuals will file for initial applications to obtain such status.

Biden Revokes Muslin/African Travel Ban, Orders Consulates to Resume

President Joe Biden has already begun to reverse his predecessor's immigration policies. On the same day of his inauguration, Biden issued a Proclamation revoking Executive Order 13780 and Proclamations 9645, 9723, and 9983.

Biden's Aggressive Plan for Path to Citizenship for Undocumented Immigrants

Even before taking office, the Biden administration already unveiled a plan aimed at legalizing the undocumented immigrants in the United States. The details of Biden's plan have not been released yet. Broadly speaking, it proposes granting the over 11 million undocumented immigrants permanent residence.

Trump's Parting Gift to Venezuelans

President Trump issued many Executive Orders and Memoranda during his presidency.   The last one was issued on 1/19/2021, the eve of his departure from the White House.

Travel Ban Cancelled by Trump Temporarily for UK, Ireland, Brazil and Most EU Countries

On 1/18/2021, Trump signed an executive order which lifted the travel restrictions for non-US citizens arriving from the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Schengen Area, and Brazil. The ban on visitors coming from China and Iran would remain. The order will be effective on 1/26/2021.  However, President-elect Biden immediately responded by stating that he will reinstate the ban after he takes office.
